THE PARAMOUNT Chief of Ada, Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC-led government to channel urgent development attention to the Ada Traditional Area, especially through the improvement of roads linking the community and its surrounding areas.
Speaking at the grand durbar of the jujust-ended 88th Asafotufiami Festival 2025 in Ada, the Paramount Chief emphasized that better road infrastructure will boost tourism and local livelihoods.

“Our land is home to tourist destinations like Aqua Safari, Treasure Island, the Songor Lagoon, and sacred shrines; therefore improved roads will not only encourage investment but also ease access for tourists and residents alike,” he said.
Nene Akuaku also used the occasion to demand justice for a young man allegedly killed during a clash between the police and some youth over the Songor salt concession involving Electrochem Ghana Limited.

“We are still in pain. I humbly ask the President to ensure that the truth is uncovered and the bereaved family is supported to lay their son to rest,” he appealed.
This year’s Asafotufiami Festival, a sacred celebration of Ada’s warrior past, drew thousands from home and abroad. The event featured colourful processions of Asafo companies, cultural displays, and rituals symbolizing the return of warriors from ancient battles.
The Paramount Chief encouraged visitors to explore Ada’s rich heritage and values. “These festivals help us pass down moral and cultural lessons to the youth. They remind us of the sacrifices of our ancestors,” he bemoaned.

He welcomed guests, especially those from the diaspora, and urged them to enjoy Ada’s warm hospitality, vibrant traditions, and tourism offerings.
The festival, held annually in the first week of August, continues to unite the people of Ada while preserving their history and identity.
