THE WETORKOR-Dalive-Torzikpota Electoral Area in the South Tongu District has seen marked improvement in road conditions following intervention under the District Road Improvement Project (DRIP), thanks to efforts by the Municipal Engineer and the Assembly.
This development is easing transportation challenges for residents, drivers, and commuters—especially during the rainy season.

Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Peter Narteh, commended the swift action by the District Engineer and the Assembly but emphasized the urgent need for culverts to ensure long-term durability and safety of the roads.
His appeal follows a formal request he submitted to the District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, for the deployment of a motor grader for grading and drainage works along the 0.6km Torzikpota-Wetorkor stretch.
In a show of local initiative, the community raised funds to purchase gravel to elevate the road and is now seeking full drainage and grading support.
The DRIP initiative marks a crucial step in improving infrastructure in this economically vibrant area. Wetorkor, situated near the Volta Lake, serves as a key center for agriculture and fisheries, producing vegetables, charcoal, palm products, oysters, and fish that are transported to major markets like Dabala and Sogakofe.

Upgraded roads are expected to boost local trade, reduce travel stress, and enhance livelihoods across the electoral area.
