THE CHIEF Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) has declared strong support for Ghana’s new 24-Hour Economy policy, calling it a bold step toward accelerating export-led growth and job creation.
The GFZA CEO, who was at the official launch of the 24-Hour Economy held in Accra over the week, stood by national leaders as President John Dramani Mahama unveiled the ambitious plan designed to drive continuous productivity across key sectors of the economy.
The GFZA boss, who attended the launch with her management team, praised the strategic focus of the policy and noted its alignment with GFZA’s core mandate of promoting export-oriented investment. “This is more than a shift in hours—it’s a shift in mindset, in policy, and in how Ghana positions itself on the global trade map,” she said.

A major highlight of the President’s speech was the Volta Economic Corridor—an industrial development zone centered around the Volta Lake and aimed at boosting agro-processing, logistics, infrastructure, and tourism. The GFZA CEO described the vision as a modern extension of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s legacy of industrialization and electrification.
“The 24-Hour Economy is voluntary, but the incentives—tax reliefs, energy security, and targeted support—make it highly attractive for Free Zones enterprises,” she emphasized.

Dr. Awusi explained GFZA’s readiness to support businesses, particularly those operating along the Volta Corridor, to adopt shift-based, round-the-clock production models that will enhance exports and boost national revenue.
Under her leadership, the GFZA aims to turn the policy into tangible results—supporting companies ready to expand, hire more Ghanaians, and compete globally.

“This is not just about working at night. It’s about building a high-productivity economy where Ghana works smarter, grows faster, and exports more,” she affirmed.
