AS PART of the government’s ongoing Reset Agenda to revive Ghanaian football, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Madam Linda Akwele Ocloo, led a delegation of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) on a morale-boosting visit to Accra Hearts of Oak during a training session.
The visit was in support of the club’s preparations ahead of an upcoming friendly match, which has been dedicated as a tribute to President John Dramani Mahama. It forms part of broader efforts to restore passion and excellence to local football and reposition it at the heart of Ghana’s national pride.

In a powerful show of commitment, the Hon. Minister announced a performance-based incentive of $1,500 and £400 per goal scored during the match — a move aimed at encouraging flair and attacking football. The delegation also donated GH₵20,000 to support the team’s operations.

“Hearts of Oak is more than just a football club; it is a symbol of national pride and legacy,” Madam Ocloo said. “Through strategic partnerships and support, we aim to rebuild the image of Ghanaian football and restore our dominance on the continent.”

The gesture comes as part of a growing call by stakeholders and government officials to revive domestic football, improve infrastructure, and attract greater public interest and investment.
With renewed energy behind the Reset Agenda, officials are urging all Ghanaians to rally behind local teams and play a role in reshaping the future of Ghanaian football.
