SHAMELESS MEMBERS OF MICRO-MINORITY IN PARLIAMENT ON THE STREET INSTEAD.

VETERAN GHANAIAN Journalist, Alfred Ogbamie has launched a scathing critique of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership, particularly targeting Members of Parliament from the Ashanti Region, over their perceived lack of support for the embattled Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

In a candid Facebook post, Mr. Ogbamie expressed deep disappointment, stating that the NPP MPs have been “highly unfair” to Chairman Wontumi.

He highlighted that despite the chairman facing investigations involving substantial financial dealings, reportedly over GH₵500 million, the MPs failed to take decisive legal action to assist him.

Mr. Ogbamie argued that if the MPs believed the GH₵50 million bail bond imposed on Wontumi was excessive, they should have promptly organized legal representation to seek a revision of the bail conditions.

Instead, he criticized their approach of staging a public show of solidarity by accompanying Wontumi to the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), only to “abandon him in the night for the comfort of their homes once the cameras were off.”

The journalist’s remarks underscore growing tensions within the NPP’s Ashanti Region stronghold, where internal conflicts and leadership disputes have been reported. Recent allegations and counter-allegations among party executives have further strained unity, raising concerns about the party’s cohesion ahead of upcoming elections.

Alfred Ogbamie’s critique serves as a stark reminder of the challenges facing the NPP in maintaining solidarity and effective leadership within its ranks, particularly in regions considered vital to its political base.
