
JULIUS NEEQUAYE Kotey, Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), has urged Ghana to leverage its unique strengths such as a youthful and dynamic population, abundant natural resources, and a rich cultural heritage to drive national progress.
In his recent statement, Mr. Kotey bemoaned that Ghana’s development path should be guided by learning from successful global examples. However, he wad quick to caution against blind imitation, advocating instead for a thoughtful adaptation of principles and strategies that align with Ghana’s context and aspirations.

He called for the strengthening of institutions, investment in quality education and healthcare, fostering of innovation, promotion of good governance, and the cultivation of shared responsibility.
According to him, drawing from the best global practices could help Ghana accelerate its journey toward a more prosperous and inclusive future.

Under Mr. Kotey’s leadership, the DVLA has initiated several reforms aimed at enhancing service delivery and operational efficiency.
Notably, the authority launched a National Community Outreach Programme to decentralize services and promote road safety awareness across the country.
In addition, Mr. Kotey has proposed formalizing the operations of informal agents, known as ‘goro boys,’ to improve transparency and efficiency in the vehicle registration process.



These initiatives reflect Mr. Kotey’s commitment to leveraging Ghana’s inherent strengths and adopting strategic innovations to drive national development.
