RECENT CLAIMS by former Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen, attempting to associate President John Dramani Mahama with alleged misappropriated funds have been met with strong rebuttals from Mahama’s associates.
A photograph circulating online, depicting President Mahama with a delegation from the Cedar Mountain Chapel of the Assemblies of God, has been cited by Mr. Adu Boahen as evidence of financial links between himself and the President.

However, sources close to President Mahama have clarified that the image was taken during a routine visit by the church’s delegation to the President.
They emphasized that Mr. Adu Boahen, a lay preacher at the church, was present in his capacity as a member of the delegation, and the meeting had no financial undertones.
“This photograph is being misrepresented to suggest a connection that doesn’t exist,” said a spokesperson for President Mahama. “The visit was purely religious and had no bearing on any financial transactions.”
President Mahama, a longstanding member of the Assemblies of God, has been known to engage with various church activities and delegations.
His participation in such events is part of his commitment to his faith and community, rather than any political or financial maneuvering.
The spokesperson further challenged that Mr. Adu Boahen to present any concrete evidence in a court of law if he believes there is a legitimate case against the President. “If Mr. Boahen has any substantive claims, the appropriate place to address them is in the courtroom, not through the dissemination of misleading photographs,” the spokesperson added.
This development follows the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) closure of investigations into Mr. Adu Boahen’s conduct during his tenure at the Finance Ministry.
The OSP concluded that while Mr. Adu Boahen engaged in influence peddling, his actions did not constitute criminal activity under current Ghanaian law, leading to the closure of the case.
As the situation unfolds, observers await further clarifications and potential legal proceedings to address the claims and counterclaims between the parties involved.
