
HON. DR. AGNES Naa Momo Lartey, PhD, Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, has reiterated her dedication to promoting gender equality and enhancing social protection policies in Ghana.
In a meeting with senior female journalists, she stressed the vital role of the media in elevating women’s voices and championing gender justice.

During the discussion, Dr. Naa Momo Lartey highlighted important legislative goals, such as expediting the passage of the Affirmative Action Bill and the Social Protection Bill to improve support systems for vulnerable populations.
She also pointed out significant initiatives like the distribution of free sanitary pads for schoolgirls and increasing access to free tertiary education for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and disadvantaged students.

Taking a firm stance against gender-based violence, the Minister revealed plans to revise the Domestic Violence Act and set up 16 shelters across the country for survivors of abuse.
She encouraged journalists to leverage their platforms to confront harmful cultural practices that impede women’s advancement.

The female journalists praised Dr. Lartey’s leadership and committed to fully supporting gender-focused advocacy and policy changes.
The Minister assured them of the Ministry’s dedication to building a strong partnership with the media in the pursuit of gender equality and social justice.
