THE LARGEST OPPOSITION National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised alarm over an attempt by some key institutions in Ghana ganging up with Electoral Commission (EC)  to help the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to rig the 2024 general elections.

According to the NDC, the behaviour of the EC Boss, Jean Adukwei Mensah and Judiciary led by Her Ladyship Chief Justice, Gertrude Aban Esaaba Torkornoo  is geared towards a long standing hatched plans to help the governing NPP to again rig the upcoming elections 2024 from now.

At a press briefing in Accra, the National Chairman of the opposition NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has indicated that a suit filed to ensure the EC Boss, carry out the limited voter registration exercise in line with Ghana’s Constitution was ignored.

He explained that six Political Parties including the NDC, (CPP, APC, LPG, GCPP and PNC) last week Thursday, filed a suit at the Dupreme Court to order the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana to stop the unlawful and unreasonable decision to restrict centres for the Limited Voter Registration exercise to their District Offices.

NDC NATIONAL CHAIRMAN, MR. JOHNSON ASIEDU NKETIAH.

Mr. Asiedu Nketiah, posited that this suit was filed because the EC’s decision to restrict the centres of voter registration to their 268 district offices was an attempt to deprived many eligible voters of their right to be registered as voters and to vote in public elections.

He said pending the final determination of the substantive matter, the parties have duly filed an Application for Interlocutory Injunction at the Supreme Court to restrain the EC from proceeding with the announced limited voter registration exercise, which started last Tuesday, 12th September, 2023.

THE HISTORICAL CORRUPT PRESIDENT ADFO DANKWA AKUFO-ADDO.

However, the NDC Chairman indicated that though the registration has commenced, the suit at the Supreme Court is only the first of a series of actions that the party intended to  compel the EC to conduct limited voter registration at the electoral area level to give all eligible voters access to the process in line with the Ghana’s Constitution; Article 42 and 45, Regulation 2(1)(2) of C.I 91 and the EC’s own time-tested practices.

THE COMPROMISED GERTRUDE ABENA ESAABA TORKORNOO, THE CHIEF JUSTICE OF GHANA,

Chairman Asiedu Nketiah, affectionately called General Mosquito, cited institutions such as CODEO, Care Ghana and other stakeholders in the country’s electoral space for also criticizing the unreasonable decision by the EC Boss who is enjoying deliberate horrific support of the country’s Supreme Court.

The NDC National Chairman opined that all these unreasonable and unlawful decision was masterminded by the ruling NPP because they are going to be the sole beneficiaries of the decision.

At the media encounter, the National Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah also charged the ECOWAS leaders to rather direct their anger to their peers to stop manipulating the systems which results in unnecessary revolutions.

He hinted the media of a lot deliberate anomalies the party recorded during the limited registration exercise at the strong holds of the NDC across the country. These include faulty machines, network problems, starting the registration at midda all these happened only at the strongholds of the opposition NDC.
