The delegates conference was highly patronised by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Folks, both young and old across the country.
About 63 aspirants are contesting for various positions based on their capabilities to perform when given the nod, by these little over 7000 NDC delegates are expected to vote to elect the party’s national executives for the next four year term.
Food vendors were also all over the venue as various Ghanaian dishes were prepared for sale within and without the Stadium.
All the aspirants have erected their billboards whilst their supporters are also going round with their posters for delegates who have and those who have not made up their minds to vote for them.
Businessmen and women displayed various NDC paraphernalia all over whilst others displayed locally made clothing such as fugu, batakari, leather slippers, leather and straw hats among others for sale.
Some supporters in their candidates’ T-shirts also skillfully displayed their motor riding prowess with their motorbikes outside the stadium since supporters in their candidates’ shirts were not allowed to enter the premises of the stadium.
The Theme for this year’s NDC National Delegates’ Conference is “Rallying For Victory 2024! Ghana’s Hope”.
About 19 aspirants are contesting for the National Executive Committee (NEC) member position; Chairmanship position, 4 persons; Vice-Chairman position, 7 persons; Secretary position, 4.
Others are Deputy Secretary, 7; Organiser, 7; Deputy Organiser, 5; Deputy Communications Officer, 5. The Communications Officer has sailed through unopposed; and 5 petsons for National Zango Caucus Coordinator position.
The two contested positions are the Chairmanship and Secretary positions which are trending across the country. Prominent of these being the National Chairmanship position which is being keenly contested by the chief scribe of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia aka General Mosquito and the incumbent Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.
Other contestants are Nii Armah Ashitey, former Greater Accra Regional Minister and MP for the people of Klotey Korle in Accra, and Mr. Yaw Adu-Sei, former Ashanti Deputy Regional Minister.
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, former NDC Director of Elections; Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, immediate past Deputy National Secetary; and Fifi Fiavi Kwettey, former MP laced their boots to lock-horns over the vacant secretary position at the delegates’ election conference.
