THE NEWLY elected Ayawaso Central Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Harry Otu Hesse has called for a reconciliation as a conduit to heal all wounds now before any plans towards harnessing the parliamentary seat comes 2024.
He indicated that without this move, the NDC in the constituency would continue to pretend there is unity among them and the failed governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will also continue to keep their (NDC) cheerish seat.
Since the NPP capitalised on the division of the NDC in the area to snatch the parliamentary seat in 1996, the Party had since never enjoyed unity to enable it recover the seat; and kept deceiving itself that there is unity.
As part of his intentions, Chairman, Harry Otu Hesse pledges to make history togther with the support of NDC people in Ayawaso Central to chase out the elephant (NPP) into the bush; and this is possible if the NDC followers in the constituency change their minds to forgive each other from now to pursue the operation “Ame Baa Jofoi” in the bid to snatch the parliamentary seat in 2024 and maximize the Presidential votes.
According to him, the only way for the seat lost to the NPP for some 28 years ago could revert to the party is that, everyone must whole-heartedly accept the reconciliation agenda and follow it up with unity intent, then the seat would surely return to the NDC in 2024.
He told the NDC supporters who throng the Kotobabi Wembley in Accra in their numbers, that he would not backdown on the promises he campaigned on for their votes; however, those promises could only be achieved if the party in the area supported him, because he cannot do it all alone, he appealed.
Chairman Harry Otu Hesse charged the Ayawaso Central NDC supporters to be innovative and strategic in approaching the 2024 general elections.
Speaking to Nationaltymes.com at the event, the Chairman lamented on many issues adding that the reconciliation project is dear to his heart because that will be the foundation for peace and unity his party people are craving for, and all other things would be possible including the seat.
“I am personally not happy at all with the schemishes between some of us and our hardworking Women’s Organiser, Mrs. Nancy M. Tedeku in the constituency and we must ensure it is resolved for everyone to be at peace before we can move in unism”, Chairman Otu Hesse lamented.
The event was patronised by all the former Constituency Executive Members, Council of elders, some party gurus and former Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the area Rauf Tubazu, who was commended by many for closing the vote gap in the last 2020 elections.
Nana Oye Bamfoe, former Minister of Gender, Women and Children Affairs took her turn to address the well attended NDC event. In her brief statement, she charged all NDC in Central Ayawaso Constituency to come together for the sake of the party to snatch the seat for NDC.
She appealed to them to try and increase their vote pattern from little over 35,000 to 45,000 to recover the parliamentary seat and to catapult the NDC into power comes December, 2024. This, she said, is possible if they unite for that important project.
