A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in to Youth and Community Development called “Global Village Afrika (GVA)”, based in Akatsi in the Volta Region of Ghana has donated logistics some youth groups in the Keta District in the region.
The items worth undisclosed amount running into thousands of Ghana Cedis, were presented to these youth groups in Havedzi, Kedzi and Vodza all in the Keta District of the Volta Region of Ghana.
This donation was in connection with the annual Norvikporgbeza, a week-long homecoming celebration by the people of Havedzi which coincides with the aftermath of the Easter festivities in the area.
This year’s celebrations involved other activities such as, beach soccer gala amongst Havedzi Mighty Warriors Beach Soccer Club (BSC), Kedzi Miracle BSC and Vodza Iron Breakers BSC.
The youth also engaged in a 4-team solo canoe racing on the Havedzi lagoon organised by the Kedzi Town Youth with the logistical support from GVA to climax the celebrations. All the participation Beach Soccer Teams received about Ghc 500 cash donations each as well as the individuals who participated in the canoe racing.
In donating the cash prizes and logistics, Mr. Benedictus Dumashie, Public Relations Officer for the NGO thanked all participants for availing themselves for this year’s celebrations which was colourful and a relief after a long break of inactivity due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Additionally, Mr. Torney Eglu, the Country Director of GVA also promised more support in the coming years and tasked the youth to keep up the good work of participatory community development by maintaining the benches provided by GVA earlier for patrons of the beach.
GVA also donated books to Zion College in Anloga, Keta Business College, Keta and Sogakope Senior High School all in the Volta region.
