A 5 years old Volunteer Group within the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Action Movement Youth (AMY-NDC) has appealed to some personalities in the party to abort their presidential ambitions for now.
AMY – NDC made the call as the party is preparing for its re-organisation at the grassroots level prior to their upcoming national delegates conference in the country.
These two (2) NDC personalities – former Finance Minister and Governor, Bank of Ghana, Dr. Kwabena Duffour and former Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, KMA Boss, Hon Kojo Bonsu, want to contest His Excellency John Dramani Mahama in the party’s flag-bearership election which is soon to be held across the country.
Dr. Duffuor is noted to be a self-made man and the Founder and Senior Advisor to HODA Holdings, an entity with over fifteen (15) business enterprises in Insurance, Banking, and Real Estates in Ghana.
The Action Movement Youth, AMY charged the aforementioned personalities to abort their presidential ambitions for now.
According to the President of AMY, Moses Tettey Dometey, per the records of former President John Dramani Mahama during his term of office were unprecedented in the history of the Fourth Republic.
He indicated that just last two months, they (AMY) have conducted a survey to solicit for the opinions of Ghanaians who want Mahama back and hunger for former President John Mahama kept surging day-in-day-out.
He said, “you’ll be surprise with the outcome. Out of the sixty-seven thousand (67,000) respondents, about sixty-five thousand, and forty (65,040) respondents want John Dramani Mahama as the next president of this country”.
“…..we believe and know that heavens have endorse him (John Mahama) and so shall it be done on earth”.
Adding, Mr. Tettey Dometey argued that “for opposition party to rescue power from a power-drunk sitting government needs a lot of sacrifices and resources, and we will be happy and grateful if Dr. Kwabena Duffour and whoever will support with that rather than contesting an election which they know well within their hearts that they won’t even get one percent”.
“….for the respect we have for Dr. Duffour and Kojo Bonsu and any other person who has an intent, should abort their presidential ambitions and consider themselves for next time”, AMY President urged.
We are therefore calling on the National Executive Council (NEC) of the NDC to prevail on them since resolving issues after internal elections is another problem on it own. The voice of the grassroots calling.
