A Youth Group have described the alleged findings of the Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) on the opposition NDC and former President John Dramani Mahama as a scam.
According to the leader of a 3 year old Group “Bring Mahama Back (BMB)”, Moses Tettey Dometey the Scam findings by the EIU calling on the NDC to bring different person as Fla-bearer was a scheme to bamboozle the party to bring someone the ruling NPP could walk over easily during the 2024 general elections.
In a statement issued in the Eastern Region of Ghana, Mr. Tettey Dometey argued that there was no findings made, but the EIU leaders who claimed they made the so-called findings sat in the comfort of their rooms and put together such a piece in their quest to poison Ghanaians against former President John Dramani Mahama ahead of ahead of 2024.
BMBM leader opined that the leaders of EIU are running out of cash, hence the need to come up with a prediction against former President Mahama who is a nightmare for the ruling NPP, to enable them go for money from the desperate governing NPP party.
Ghanaweb published the piece by EIU rather cautioning the National Democratic Congress to present a fresh candidate instead of His Excellency the former President John Dramani Mahama.
Mr. Tettey Dometey stated that “we want to appreciate EIU for presenting such an inaccurate, misleading and untrue prediction, but we are still battling to understand the motivation and the reason to publish such a palpable lie in the media space”.
He argued that EIU prediction about His Excellency John Dramani Mahama is inaccurate, sham and does not have any locus. “We took our time to read every bit of the publication but the prediction does not give any tangible and convincing reasons why the NDC should present a fresh candidate to Ghanaians”.
Adding, the BMB Leader emphasised that in the NDC, every one showing interest to contest is a winnable candidate for the party, but about 80% of Ghanaians are calling for John Mahama (JM) as the president of this nation in 2025.
We want to remind you, EIU that if even then candidate Nana Akufo-Addo was 3 times the NPP Presidential Candidate in 2008, 2012 and 2016 but failed to emerge as the President until in 2016, then why not a whole JM, opined Mr. Tettey Dometey.
He indicated however that His Excellency former John Mahama lost in 2016 and 2020 but we are optimistic and convinced that he will lead the party to secure maximum vote for the NDC 2024 in order torescue Ghana from mess that the country found itself in currently.
Mr. TetteyDometey further stressed that JM in opposition is still more popular than NPP and President Akufo-Addo combined. To this fit, he charged EIU to stop misleading Ghanaians because their prediction is inaccurate.
Bring Back Mahama (BMB) movement explained that, in 2016, Nana Akufo-Addo won with 53.8% as against President John Mahama’s 44.4%, a clear difference of 9.4% and rather in 2020, Nana Addo had the support of the chosen Electoral Commission (EC) to get 51% as against John Dramani Mahama (JM) – 47%, a difference of only 4%.
This indicates that the NDC performed very well in 2020 and our prediction for NDC in 2024 election presenting John Mahama, JM again as the candidate, shows clearly that the NDC is going to have a resounding one touch victory in 2024, BMBM asserted.
BMB statement also pointed out “the NDC led by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama left a strong and a stable economy in 2016 to the Nana Akufo-Addo led NPP government. They stated some facts and evidence such as, at 2016 December, 5kilo bag of rice which was sold at GHC25 and GHC30, today in 2022 the same 5kilo bag of rice is sold at GHC45, GHC47, GHC50, and GHC70 respectively.
In 2016, size 5 bag of dried corn was sold between GHC150 and GHC200, today, the same corn is sold at GHC500.
A gallon of frytol and other cooking oils which was sold at GHC150 in 2016, is now sold today at GHC500
The transportation fare from Somanya to Accra was GHC7, today it has increased to GH17 under the NPP government.
The BMB leader said those are just few facts, but the comparison could go on endlessly.
This effect, they advised EIU to rather press on Nana Addo to fix the messed economy, stop the expensive lifestyle because he, Nana Addo has violated the social contract signed between him and the Ghanaian people.
“We are therefore calling on Ghanaians in and outside to disregard the EIU publication, because it is a prediction just to mislead the good people of Ghana who are poised to vote massively for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 election to rescue Ghana from the economic mess”, MosesTetteyDometey, President, BMBM stressed.
