About 149 women in the Ablekuma Central Constituency of the Greater Accra Region have gone through various employable skills training.
The six week skills training took the women through soap making, lotions, washing powder, shower gels and many others.

The women were drawn from all the 10 wards within the constituency without regards to their political affiliation.
Ablekuma Central Constituency NDC Women’s Organisation, Hajia Rahina indicated in her welcome address that the aim of the programme was to help alleviate poverty amongst the women in the constituency.

She said under the hard economic condition the NPP government has plunged the whole nation into, it is prudent if tje women were given skills to help them start businessof their own.
She was very optimistic that this programme would be a financial breakthrough for most the the graduants.

The constituency chairman, Kofi Kplorm Dordunu also commended the women’s organizer for her selfless service to the party.
“This will go a long way to help in job creation”, he added.

The Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NDC who was also the former Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Theophilus Tettey Chai charged graduates to put their skill to good use.

According to him, the Akufo Addo/Bawumia led NPP government have failed the people of Ghana for not creating jobs and blocking people from gaining employment into the public service by telling them that the government payroll is full.
Hon. Theophilus reminded the people of the work of the NDC and now in opposition doing same to help reduce the burden of youth in job seeking.
Madam Felicial Mekpoi Bortey, the Regional Women’s Organizer who initiated the programme for the women in the region explained that her motive was to equip every woman in the region with skills.

The hard working women’s organizer said women are the most vulnerable in the society hence the focus on them. She took swipe at the NPP government for putting Ghanaian women in despair.
Madam Mekpoi Bortey encouraged them not to lose hope but rather put the skills they acquire into practice and their lives would be better off.
