A statement by Action Movement Youth Volunteers, (AMYV).

It is a common legal maxim that, “he who comes into equity must come with clean hands.” Not so?

We, of the non- profit Action Movement Youth Volunteers register our disappointment at the attempt by President Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo to use the taxpayers money to pay his wife and the wife of Mahamoudu Bawumia.

Mosses Tetteh Dometey, President, AMYV

The novel virus imposed a lot of threats and instability to individuals, families, private and state organisations, institutions and the economy, etc. Through out the country, individuals, families, private and state institutions have not yet overcome the shocks and impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Therefore, It was unthinkable, unbelievable and unimaginable to hear that the First Lady and the Second Lady will start receiving full salaries like Cabinet Ministers.

The Ghanaian President Wants to Pay Wife

The same government who told us our economy is broke and every Ghanaian is expected to pay 1% as covid-19 levi are now going to waste Gh42,000.00 taxpayers money per month.

Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, First Lady

Backdate from 2017 sum up for the two of them to Gh2,268,000.00.

Mrs. Semira Bawumia, Second Lady

Questions we are asking:

  1. We want to know if that recommendation is in line with the constitution of Ghana ?
  2. Was this constitutional?
  3. Was the First Lady and Secondly Lady appointed or elected to any office?
  4. Why should the country pay them salaries instead of allowance?
  5. What emanated this move?

To all Media Houses
President, Action Movement Youth Volunteers (AMYV).
