THE 43RD ANNIVERSARY of the 31st December Women’s Movement has been described as a momentous yet simple occasion by Dr. Yakubu Azindow, a lecturer at Massachusetts University, USA, a National Democratic Congress (NDC) member.
He was also former parliamentary aspirant for Ayawaso East for 3 times. Speaking to The Nationaltymes.com during an interview, Dr. Azindow praised the event for its remarkable turnout and emphasized its significance in championing the values of Ghana’s revolutionary spirit.

Dr. Azindow noted that the anniversary, although not planned to be grand, saw an overwhelming attendance. “All those who matter in the NDC and Ghana’s political scene were present,” he said, highlighting the presence of party stalwarts, Members of Parliament, former ministers, constituency executives, cadres of the revolution and members of diverse groups such as the Nungua Dressmakers Association and market women.

Acvorfing to him, the event was not just a commemoration but a reminder of the principles that drive the NDC’s agenda. “What matters most is the revolution’s values and how they can uplift Ghanaians as we have moved into 2025,” he remarked. He expressed optimism about the party’s ability to deliver on its mandate, especially through empowering the youth.

A key highlight of the anniversary was the participation of young people who showcased their talents in a parade traditionally reserved for soldiers. Dr. Azindow lauded their performance and urged the NDC leadership to recruit these youth into Ghana’s security agencies to harness their potential. “This is a testament to the good things unfolding for our party and the country,” he said.

Dr. Azindow also charged the youth to be proactive in engaging with leaders, emphasizing the need for opportunities rather than handouts. “Our leaders should teach us how to fish, not give us fish,” he advised, adding that such empowerment would advance both the NDC and the nation.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Azindow expressed hope that the values of the revolution and the engagement of young people would pave the way for Ghana’s progress under the NDC. “Together, we can advance the cause of this party and Ghana at large,” he affirmed.

The 43rd anniversary of the 31st December Women’s Movement has undoubtedly left an indelible mark, with leaders like Dr. Azindow championing the call for unity, empowerment, and revolutionary values as Ghana moves forward.
