FORMER President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva beats Jair Bolsonaro, in their just ended Presidential elections. BBC report, 31 October 2022.
Former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has defeated far-right incumbent Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil’s presidential election. After a close contest between the two candidates, Lula narrowly won the election (50.9%) and he will be sworn in on 1st January, 2023.
This is a good lesson for Ghana. A former President who performed well in government but lost elections due to malice and evil propaganda will definitely come back to power.
The people of Brazil did a thorough soul search and subjected their conscience to reasonability. They assessed both personalities whilst in government and realized they sold their “Land Cruiser for a Tico Taxi cab”.
The current economic hardship in Brazil is unbearable as a result of bad governance and it looks as if the government is bereft of economic ideas to salvage the situation.
This situation has caused change of government where the former President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has been elected following his performance as president in his previous term; and is expected to be sworn in come January 1, 2023.
Similarly, in Ghana today, the economic hardship is so enormous that an Olonka of Gari is in the region of GH¢ 17.50. An Olonka of Beans sells at GH¢ 36.00. An Olonka of Groundnut is selling at GH¢ 54.00. A bunch of plantain is now GH¢ 200.00.
A litre of Petrol sells at GH¢ 23.14 and a gallon sells at almost GH¢ 120.00.
Transport fares from Accra to Wa is GH¢ 270.00; from Accra to Adenta is GH¢8.50; from La to Teshie is GH¢ 5.00; and from Accra to Kumasi GH¢ 100.00.
With such transport fares charged and the current fuel price regime, how can the goods produced from the hinterlands get to Accra and other city centres without a huge cost attached? Is the government thinking in that direction?
What about our water bodies and Galamsey? The Presidency has officially blessed the NPP party structure in Galamsey operations with the motive that, “Party hiá Sika”. Ghana loses whilst Akufo-Addo and family gets richer.
The country shall be importing water 10 years to come if nothing is done about this menace to save our forests and water bodies.
Are we going or coming as a nation that has been blessed with several natural resources placed in the hands of thieves and bigots, whose priority is their family and some privileged party members.
This hardship, if not curtailed, can cause certain parent’s to start selling their children for food. Men and women will start selling their bodies, and sometimes body parts, for bread. The centre is no more holding. Things have fallen apart.
The leadership must be impeached as a matter of urgency. Any single day they stay further in power shall cause doom for mother Ghana.
The time has come for Ghanaians to rise and vote for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to rescue Ghana from the hands of these selfish arrogant thieves and take over the helm of affairs of the nation to restore it to its glory.
