The Women’s Wing of the National Democratic Congress, NDC joined the rest of the world to celebrate the International Women’s Day In Accra.
Dr. Hanna Louisa Bisiw, the NDC National Women’s Organiser with the support of her subordinates across the regions, constituencies and the branches of the party celebrated the day with acknowledgement to all women who contributed in diverse way in course Of Ghana.
In an encounter with the media she reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment when it comes to championing the International Women’s agenda and development in Ghana.
According to the NDC’s National Women’s Organiser, Dr. Hanna Bisiw, the NDC has placed women at the highest point of decision making since 4th Republic of Ghana.
She mentioned that the NDC appointed Right Hon. Joyce Bamford-Addo (Mrs) as first female Speaker of Parliament; first female for Ministry of Justice and Attorney General, Mrs. Betty Mouled Iddrissu amongst many other women into sensitive positions of decision making where they contributed to the well being of this country.
She also pointed out that the NDC chose Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyniemang as female running-mate for a major political party in the country, and the ‘irresponsible’ rigging activities of the Electoral Commission, EC in collaboration with the sitting President in the last elections of 2020 Prof. Naana Jane was denied the opportunity to become first female Vice President of the Republic of Ghana.
The National Women’s Organiser of the NDC, Dr. Hanna Bisiw further commended Ghanaian women for their continuous contribution to national building.
She acknowledged all the former fort ladies – Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Naadu Mills, Mrs. Lordina Mahama and Mrs. Amissah-Atta for their selfless contribution to mother Ghana.
She also saluted the females in the Ghanaian media and other African countries and beyond for their contribution to sustaining democracy. She quickly noted contributions of the female head-porters (kayayei) to the Ghana’s economy.
In an interview with National Tymes, the NDC National Women’s Organiser further acknowledged Ghanaian women who have been the backbone of the economic transformation, nurturing responsible men and women for future development.
To this effect, Dr. Hanna Bisiw encouraged women to stand firm in pursuing their career sounding that women deserve to be protected and empowered by the state.
At the event to mark this year’s International Women’s Day in Accra organised by the party’s Women’s Wing the Women’s leadership urged President Auffo-Addo to champion the cause of women empowerment in the country.
They further charged the President to deliver on his promise made to Ghanaians of building 88 hospitals under the certificate of urgency when the country was hit with COVID-19 and went into lockdown.
The NDC women’s leadership condemned the unwarranted attacks and killings of some innocent Ghanaians during the 2020 general elections organised by EC under his (Nana Addo’s) watch.
Dr. Hanna Bisiw demand justice for those who were killed during their civil responsibility to ensure the true result of the will of the people reflects in the last elections.
She further charged that no matter the delay of justice, those behind the killing should be brought to book for justice to prevail to put the hearts of the bereaved families to rest.
