I have just been reminded of the incident that registered the most grilling session in our vetting history in 2009 involving Hon. Fiifi Kwetey as the nominee.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP), in a syndicated form rejected the nomination of Fiifi Kwetey and it is instructive to put into perspective, the basis for which they rejected him, compared to what happened today on Hawa Koomson.
The NPP sought to deny Hon. Fiifi Kwetey of the opportunity to serve as a Deputy Finance Minister because according to them, he had made an allegation against President John Agyakum Kuffour on some missing gold bars.
Just for this offence…massa, just for this “small” offence oooo, out of 107 NPP Members of Parliament (MPs) at the time, 106 voted against the nomination of Fiifi Kwetey. That is NPP for you folks!
Compare that to what happened in parliament on Tuesday, the 3rd of March 2021 when the NDC had the opportunity to pay back.
Even as it was glaringly clear that Hawa Koomson engaged in sporadic gun shots during voter registration.
And she ordered the beating and maiming of the NDC Constituency Organizer at Kasoa in the Central Region unprovokatively, the parliament of Ghana went ahead to vote for her with the assistance of over 24 NDC MPs in Parliament. Can you image the level of betrayal!
In another contrast of interest, the NPP caucus in parliament unanimously voted against Dr. Ekow Spio Gabrah to deny him the opportunity to serve as the Minister of Trade and Industry when he (Dr. Spio Gabrah) was accused of not having a Voter ID Card.
Today, in spite of the subversive actions of Dominic Nitiwul; supervision of the killing of 8 innocent citizens of Ghana by Kan Dapaah; Kelni GvG scandal by Ursula, Perjury in parliament by Kojo Oppng Nkrumah, some NDC MPs collaborated with their NPP counterparts to endorse the same people who shot and killed some NDC members to be ministers again. National interest indeed!
Most painful of it all is the deliberate administration of injustice against the NDC by the “Unanimous Supreme Court (SC)”. What more could serve as a consolation to the party members than a “Unanimous rejection” of these Terror-happy Nominees of Akufo Addo?
Which of the MP Caucuses (NDC/NPP) has its party and its people at heart? Why should our people betray us so much? What was it for? Hunger, treachery or witchcraft?
“Massa”, it’s time we think twice about our MPs. It is only fair at this point to call for a total rejection of our MPs at the constituencies to show them how to do “total rejection” in parliament.
Let justice lead, for peace to prevail! Truth Stands!!
