A US-based Ghanaian Musician, Wizzy Adeblah with the stage name Superior Character says lesbianism and the gay community cannot contribute to the progress and development of a nation.
According to him, God forbids such immoral and ungodly acts that do not add anything to the human race.
“I don’t support this act of lesbians and gays, it is a complete sin and God don’t like it. It will not let us prosper, God will not bless our nation if we engage in that,” he told Ghanaians in an interview with National Tymes.
The Executive Director of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, Moses Foh-Amoaning reacting to a recent fundraiser organised by an LGBT group in the capital has asked the government to act on the new development by LGBT in the country.
Lawyers Foh-Amoaning’s reaction is also on the background of news report to the fact that LGBT group now have an office in Accra.
“The Presidency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) have every right to investigate that office to close it down immediately and arrest and prosecute those people involved in it,” he said, as quoted by Myjoyonline.com.
Traditional authorities and religious leaders in the Central Regional have also resolved to use every legitimate means possible in their power to fight against the practice of same-sex marriage in the country.
According to the Traditional and Religious Leaders, raiding and locking the offices of these same-sex practitioners is a good step, but that will not be enough to deter others if laws are not passed to make it a criminal offence.
Another group that has come out forcefully in a statement against the LGBT is the Ghana Catholic Bishop Conference.
The Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference in a strong-worded statement has condemned supporters of homosexuality and lesbianism in Ghana.
According to the Bishops, the Catholic church in the country do not support any abominable practice.
“We also write to support the position of Lawyer Moses Foh-Amoaning and the Coalition who for years has been championing the crusade against homosexuality. We also commend other individuals who have spoken in condemnation of this practice,” the Bishops noted.
Adding his voice to these many calls, Wizzy the Superior Character, also called on the Ghanaian government not allow the LGBT group to gain ground in the country.
“The government should not allow that, because Ghana is a Christian country with some level of huge percent as Muslims and a Traditional country. Ghana is a nation for God,” Wizzy the Superior Character added.
