THE PILGRIMS Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has distanced the Ghana Hajj Board from reports linking Alhaji Sibamay Zakaria, also known as Papa Angola, to the Board.
The clarification follows a news report published by Ghana Today on August 13, 2026, with the headline: “Mahama’s Appointee to the Hajj Board Slaps Pastor in Police Custody.”
In a disclaimer issued by the PAOG Secretariat, the office stated that Alhaji Sibamay Zakaria is not a member of the Ghana Hajj Board and does not represent PAOG in any official capacity.
The Secretariat said reports linking him to the Hajj Board were inaccurate and urged the public to take note of the clarification.
“Alhaji Sibamay Zakaria, also known as Papa Angola, is not a member of the Ghana Hajj Board and does not represent PAOG in any official capacity,” the statement said.
The disclaimer comes a day after PAOG announced the official Hajj fare of GH¢60,000 for the 2027 Hajj season.
PAOG has therefore made it clear that any actions or statements attributed to Alhaji Sibamay Zakaria should not be associated with the Office or the Ghana Hajj Board.
