THE OFFICE of the Atukpai Mantse and Gbese Mankralo of the Ga State has strongly denied social media reports claiming that Nii Ayi Bonte II, the Gbese Mantse and Adonten of the Ga State, has passed away.
In a statement issued on June 9, 2026, and signed by Tatse Nii Tettey Jijin II, Warlord of Atukpai and Administrator, the office described the reports as false, baseless and misleading.
According to the statement, the rumour has caused unnecessary fear and anxiety among family members, traditional authorities, subjects, friends and well-wishers of the revered traditional leader.
The office condemned the publication and circulation of the false information, describing it as irresponsible and harmful to the dignity of the Gbese Stool and the Ga Traditional Institution.
It urged the public to disregard the reports and avoid sharing unverified information on social media. The statement further stressed that any official information concerning the welfare, status or activities of the Gbese Mantse would only be communicated through recognised customary and official channels.

The office also cautioned individuals behind the rumour to immediately stop spreading such falsehoods, warning that such actions have the potential to create public unrest and undermine respect for traditional authority.
The public has therefore been advised to rely solely on official communications from the Gbese Dzase for accurate information regarding the Gbese Stool.
