THE MEMBER of Parliament for Salaga South, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has expressed deep concern over reports of a missing baby at the Salaga Government Hospital and has called for a thorough investigation into the incident.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the MP described the development as heartbreaking and disturbing, urging residents to remain calm while security agencies work to uncover the facts.

According to her, the incident reportedly occurred around midday, and a formal complaint was lodged at the Salaga Police Station at about 2:00 p.m.

Hon. Zuwera Ibrahimah disclosed that information received from the Ghana Police Service in Salaga indicates that two midwives have been arrested in connection with the case and are currently assisting with investigations.

The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be put before court as investigations continue. The MP said that as both a mother and the representative of the people of Salaga South, she shares in the pain, anxiety and concern of the affected family and the entire community.

“The safety and wellbeing of every child is very important to me. This unfortunate incident has caused fear and distress among residents, and my thoughts are with the affected family during this difficult time,” she stated.

She assured the family and constituents that she is closely following developments and engaging the relevant authorities to ensure that the matter is fully investigated and justice is served.

Hon. Zuwera also expressed confidence in the Ghana Police Service and other state institutions to handle the case with the urgency and seriousness it deserves.

The MP further appealed to the public to avoid spreading rumours and unverified information that could undermine ongoing investigations.
“Let us remain calm and allow the security agencies to do their work. At the same time, we should continue to support the affected family as they go through this painful experience,” she urged.

She concluded by offering prayers for the family and expressing hope that the matter would be resolved swiftly and positively.

Police investigations into the alleged missing baby case are ongoing.
