PRESIDENT of Ghana has appointed Mr. Aaron Kanor as the Acting Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). The appointment takes immediate effect.
Mr. Kanor is an experienced Customs officer with more than 30 years of service at the GRA. He is known for his strong background in revenue collection, border security and trade facilitation. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for integrity, professionalism and dedication to public service.
Before his new role, Mr. Kanor served as Officer in Charge of Port Operations. In that position, he supervised key Customs duties, including enforcing customs laws, collecting revenue and supporting trade activities. He has also worked as Sector Commander at Kotoka International Airport and Wa Collections, and served as Chief Revenue Officer in several operational areas.
During his career, Mr. Kanor led intelligence-driven operations that reduced smuggling and exposed invoice fraud. He also helped stop criminal networks involved in tampering with vehicle identification numbers. In addition, he supported modernization efforts within the Customs Division, which improved efficiency and reduced cargo clearance times. His work has helped align Ghana’s customs systems with international standards and made trade smoother for legitimate businesses.

Mr. Kanor takes over from Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan, whose leadership has been praised by the Board, Management and staff of the Customs Division. The appointment, announced on February 23, 2026, is expected to strengthen Customs administration, improve compliance and support Ghana’s economic growth through safer and more efficient trade systems.
