A MAJOR free eye screening programme led by the Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, has begun in the Dzogborve and Amedorme communities.
The exercise, which started on Friday, 21st November 2025, saw the MP’s field team arriving early to set up and organize the process before the arrival of the visiting medical team.
The medical officers completed final logistics arrangements and immediately began attending to residents who had gathered in anticipation.

Community members expressed joy and relief as the screening team arrived, describing the initiative as timely and much needed, especially for the elderly and those who had struggled with eye problems for years.
By the close of the first day, the team had screened 387 patients, dispensed 421 eye medications, issued 31 eyeglasses, and booked 31 individuals for surgery. Health officials say the figures show a high level of unmet eye-care needs in the area.

The screening continues in other communities in the coming days as part of the MP’s commitment to improving access to healthcare in South Tongu.
