CHIEF OF Staff Julius Debrah has thrown his weight behind the government’s flagship 24-hour economy policy, calling on the media to rally national support for the initiative.
Speaking at the 75th anniversary celebration of the Daily Graphic in Accra, Mr. Debrah said the 24-hour economy holds great promise for boosting productivity, increasing Ghana’s GDP, and creating more jobs.
“The concept of a 24-hour economy makes sense. It simply means we must create systems to increase productivity,” he explained. He urged the media to help shape positive public discourse and encourage national buy-in.
“Let’s put politics aside and embrace the concept. If we get it right, it will go a long way to benefit our nation.”
Mr. Debrah praised Daily Graphic as “a true Ghanaian institution,” commending its legacy of credible journalism and national service.

“The story of Graphic at 75 holds lessons for all media houses—credibility matters. It has earned the trust of generations by sticking to accuracy and integrity.”
He reaffirmed government’s commitment to press freedom and promised continued collaboration with stakeholders to protect journalists’ rights and help traditional media adapt to the evolving digital space.
As he congratulated the board, management, and staff of Graphic Communications Group, Mr. Debrah described their journey as “75 years of truth and service to the nation,” and called on the media to remain vital partners in Ghana’s development drive.
