THE LATE PROF. PRESIDENT JOHN EVANS FIIFI ATTA-MILLS.

THIRTEEN (13) years after his passing, Ghanaians continue to honour the memory of former President Professor John Evans Atta Mills, whose legacy of peace, humility, and service still inspires the nation.

Speaking at a memorial at Asomdwee Park, His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama described Prof. Mills as a rare and principled leader who led with calm, compassion, and integrity. “He never allowed power to change who he was. Until his last breath, he remained a servant of the people,” Mr. Mahama stated.

He praised Mills’ deep concern for the vulnerable and his quiet but firm leadership style, which stood apart from insults and partisanship. “He put people before politics and country before self,” President Mahama noted.

He stressed that true honour to Prof. Mills goes beyond wreaths and words. “The real tribute is to live the values he stood for—honesty, justice, humility, and accountability.”

He also tied his current RESET agenda to the Better Ghana Agenda laid by Prof. Mills, saying the country’s future depends on leaders who serve with principle and empathy.

“Asomdwee Park is not just a burial site—it is a symbol of what our politics can become,” President Mahama said, urging Ghanaians to unite around the values Mills lived by.

“To the Mills family, your loss was Ghana’s loss. And to Prof. Mills, rest well. You are forever in our hearts”.
