THE MUNICIPAL Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly (LekMA), Hon. Israel Adjetey Otchwemah, has issued a stern warning to individuals constructing buildings on unauthorized sites, particularly on waterways.
He expressed concern over the disregard for regulations and the potential hazards such developments pose to the community.
During a staff durbar introducing him to assembly personnel, Hon. Israel highlighted the challenges posed by unauthorized structures and the dumping of construction materials on road shoulders. He noted that such activities not only obstruct traffic but also contribute to flooding and other environmental issues.
Addressing sanitation concerns, the MCE acknowledged the municipality’s struggles, especially in the Teshie township. He announced plans to revitalize sanitation efforts by empowering the Environmental Health Directorate and to reintroduce the ‘sama-sama’ initiative to maintain cleanliness in the area.

Furthermore, Hon. Adjetey Otchwemah emphasized the importance of youth employment and skills development. He mentioned that unemployed youth in the municipality would be encouraged to participate in apprenticeship programmes under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s initiatives, including the National Youth Employment (NYE), and the National Youth Authority (NYA).
The MCE reiterated his commitment to transforming the municipality in line with the vision of the NDC government, focusing on infrastructure development, sanitation, and youth empowerment.
