THE NEWLY endorsed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ledzokuku, Hon. Israel, has raised concerns over alleged internal sabotage within the Assembly, attributing the freezing of its accounts to actions by certain staff members aligned with the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

At a staff durbar introducing him to Assembly personnel, Hon. Israel Adjetey Otchwemah expressed dismay at the Assembly’s current challenges, stating that some staff, purportedly sympathizers of the NPP, colluded with suppliers to initiate legal actions over debts incurred during the previous administration.
“These actions have led to the garnishment of the Assembly’s accounts, crippling our operations and affecting service delivery,” he lamented.
The MCE stressed that the financial constraints have resulted in unpaid salaries for certain workers over the past three months, highlighting the broader impact on the municipality’s functionality.
In response to the situation, Hon. Israel assured staff of his commitment to resolving the financial impasse, indicating plans to settle a significant portion of the outstanding debts before entering new contractual agreements.

He also underscored the importance of punctuality and dedication among staff, aligning with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s “Reset Agenda” aimed at revitalizing local governance.
“We must all work diligently to restore the Assembly’s integrity and ensure effective service delivery to our constituents,” Hon. Adjetey Otchwemah urged.
MCE Israel Adjetey Otchwemah concluded by reaffirming his dedication to transforming the municipality in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for national development.
