MEMBER of Parliament for Salaga South, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has appealed to voters in Ayawaso East to be careful when casting their ballots in the upcoming by-election, slated for March 3, 2026 in Ayawaso East Constituency.

She urged the electorate to vote correctly in order to avoid rejected or spoilt ballots. Addressing supporters at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) final rally held at Nima, the MP emphasized the crucial of every single vote.

According to her, although the party is confident of victory, it is important that supporters vote properly to ensure their ballots are counted. She expressed strong belief that the NDC and its parliamentary candidate, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, will win the by-election. However, she noted that victory alone is not enough.

She explained that the party is seeking a wide margin between the NDC and the other competing parties, and this can only be achieved if voters avoid mistakes that may lead to rejected ballots. “Every vote matters,” she told the cheering crowd. “We must ensure that when you go to the polling station, you thumbprint correctly to avoid spoiling your ballot. Let us win with a clear and convincing margin.”

L – R: RAMNI, BABA JAMAL,  ASIEDU NKETIA, DR. AZINDOW & NAJIB.

The rally, which took place on the eve of the by-election, attracted a large number of party faithful and sympathizers from across the Ayawaso East Constituency. The atmosphere was energetic, with music, chants, and speeches from party leaders encouraging supporters to turn out in their numbers.

Present at the rally were key national executives of the NDC, led by the party’s National Chairman, John Asiedu Nketia and the General Secretary, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey. Several Members of Parliament and senior party officials also attended the event and took turns addressing the crowd.

They all called on voters to remain united and focused ahead of the polls.
In a strong show of unity, the four (4) other aspirants who contested against Baba Jamal during the NDC parliamentary primaries were also present at the rally to declare their full support for him.

HON. HAJIA ZUWERA MOHAMMED IBRAHIMAH.

They included Dr. Yakubu Azindow, Mohammed Ramni (popularly known as “Killer”, former Constituency Chairman), Najib Sani and Hajia Amina Adam, wife of the late MP, Mac Nasser Mahama Toure.

Their presence, according to party supporters, demonstrates unity and commitment within the NDC as the party heads into the by-election. The Ayawaso East by-election is expected to be closely watched, with political observers reluctant  to predict a competitive contest.

As campaigns came to an end, party leaders continue to stress the importance of discipline, vigilance, and proper voting procedures to ensure that every valid vote counts.
