THE COUNTRY Director of Coginta Ghana, Rev. Father Clement, has officially commissioned an ultra-modern Community Police Post and Peace Centre at Kafaba over the week in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region.

The project, fully funded by Coginta Ghana and facilitated by the Member of Parliament for the Salaga-South Constituency, Hon. Hajia Zuwera, through Choice Ghana, is expected to enhance community policing, promote peace, and strengthen security in Kafaba and surrounding communities.

Speaking at the event, the MCE for East Gonja Municipality, Hon. Kassim Yazid Rabiu, commended all stakeholders who contributed to the successful completion of the project, including the Member of Parliament, Choice Ghana, and the Kafaba Wura.

On behalf of the people of the municipality, he expressed profound appreciation to Rev. Father Clement and Coginta Ghana for funding what he described as a timely and critical security intervention.

He assured residents that the facility would be put to effective use and pledged the Assembly’s commitment to providing additional accommodation to complement the project.

In his remarks, Rev. Father Clement underscored the importance of peace and security in the Kafaba community, explaining that these considerations informed his prompt approval of the project when the proposal was presented by the Member of Parliament and Choice Ghana.

He urged residents to remain vigilant against violent extremism and encouraged them to promptly report any suspicious activities. He also recounted how the Executive Director of Choice Ghana and the Member of Parliament personally visited his office in Tamale to facilitate the initiative.

Rev. Father Clement concluded by appealing to the people of Kafaba to take good care of the facility and ensure its effective utilization.

Representing the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Commissioner of Police (COP), Alhaji Mohammed Shiraz, expressed gratitude to Rev. Father Clement and Coginta Ghana for sponsoring the project as part of efforts to strengthen community policing nationwide.

He reaffirmed the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property and encouraged residents to regard the police as partners by promptly reporting unlawful activities.

He also commended the Kafaba Wura, the Member of Parliament, the MCE, Choice Ghana, and all stakeholders whose contributions ensured the successful completion of the project.

The Kafaba Wura, in his address, expressed delight at the commissioning of the facility and thanked Rev. Father Clement and Coginta Ghana for the initiative. He further expressed appreciation to the Member of Parliament and Choice Ghana for facilitating the project and appealed for additional developmental interventions for the community.

The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including the Savannah Regional Police Commander, the East Gonja Divisional Commander, the NDC Constituency Chairman, Mr. Haruna Abdul Aziz, who represented the Member of Parliament, staff of the East Gonja Municipal Assembly, students, traditional authorities, and residents of the Kafaba community.
