THE EZE Ndigbo of Ghana, His Royal Majesty Eze Dr. Chukwudi Ihenetu, has praised the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, for conferring a prestigious traditional title on Ghana’s President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
President Mahama received the honour in Ile-Ife, Nigeria, the ancient home of the Yoruba people. He was given the title Aare Atayeto Oodua of the Source, a respected Yoruba title that recognises leadership marked by positive impact, service to humanity, and far-reaching influence.
In a statement, Eze Dr. Ihenetu said the honour reflects President Mahama’s influence beyond Ghana and his strong commitment to inclusive leadership, regional cooperation, and African unity.

He noted that recognition from such a highly respected traditional institution shows growing appreciation for African leaders who promote peace, dialogue, and sustainable development across the continent.
According to him, President Mahama’s record in public service continues to earn respect both within Africa and internationally.

Eze Ihenetu also described the honour as an important example of cultural diplomacy, showing that Africa’s traditional institutions still play a vital role in recognising leadership that promotes unity and shared progress.
He congratulated President Mahama and expressed hope that the honour would further encourage his efforts toward the development of Ghana, Africa, and humanity as a whole.
