HON. MP FOR SALAGA-SOUTH, HAJIA ZUWERA MOHAMMED IBRAHIMAH.

Story By: Emmanuel Anyigba

MEMBER of Parliament for Salaga South, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has officially cut sod for the construction of the Sawaba No.1–Abromase Road and handed the project over to the contractor.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Zuwera Ibrahimah said the project became possible after several follow-ups and discussions with the Minister for Roads, Hon. Kwame Agbodza, and other key government officials.

She revealed that the Roads Minister assured her that the President had raised the issue at Cabinet level, while the Regional Minister also kept pushing for it. She described the project as one of the most important and long-awaited developments for the area.

The MP said the road, when completed, will meet high standards similar to those in Accra. She introduced the contractor to residents and performed the traditional rites needed for work to start immediately.

According to her, the contractor has already begun concrete works around Abromase. She added that President John Dramani Mahama has sent his best wishes and expressed full support for the project.

Hon. Zuwera Ibrahimah stressed that development should not be viewed through a political lens, saying development “has no name” and must benefit everyone.

She recalled that during the community’s Annual Homecoming event on 28th December after the elections, the community leader, Klora, raised several concerns—especially the poor state of the road.

She explained that before the elections, Klora had appealed to then former President Mahama, who promised that the road would be given priority once he returned to office. She assured residents that this promise is now being fulfilled.

Responding to concerns about her silence on the issue in Parliament, Hon. Zuwera Ibrahimah said she chose to address the matter privately because both the Deputy Roads Minister, Alhassan Sohuyeini and Energy Minister, John Abdullai Jinapor are natives of the area.

According to her, meeting them directly has helped resolve the issue faster without the need for repeated statements on the floor of Parliament.

She thanked the Roads Minister and President John Dramani Mahama for their commitment to ensuring the Sawaba No.1–Abromase Road project finally becomes a reality for the people.
