AS PART of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), TECNO, a leading phone brand and global partner of CAF, is set to construct an ultra-modern AstroTurf pitch in Panama, Kokomlemle, Accra.
Speaking to the media, Hope Avedzi, a member of TECNO’s marketing team, explained that this is the first of many projects planned across Africa, aimed at transforming bare, rugged pitches into world-class facilities for the youth.

“This is our way of giving back to the community. For the first time, Panama will have a fully funded modern pitch from TECNO,” he said.
While the total cost was not disclosed, the company confirmed it is fully financing the entire project. The initiative is inspired by TECNO’s brand ambassador, football star Mohammed Kudus, and reflects the company’s commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting sports development.

The project is also expected to help unearth hidden talents within Panama and nearby communities, giving young people access to a proper playing field for growth and exposure.
For now, Panama is the only confirmed location in Ghana, with more projects expected to follow based on future discussions.

The contractor, Mr. Henry Tuffour of GLOBALCON LTD, said the project will take about three months to complete. He called on the community to support the work during construction to ensure a successful outcome.
Mr. Tuffour assured that quality materials will be used and that the final project will be both attractive and durable. He added that more skilled workers will be employed to meet the project deadline.
The pitch will include floodlights to enable night-time games and host social events, potentially creating opportunities for local businesses to thrive.

Speaking at the event, Nii Ayikwei Kakalor I, Kokomlemle Mantse, urged the community to take good care of the facility once completed.
He emphasized that President John Dramani Mahama’s “Reset Agenda” includes a change in mindset towards personal and collective responsibility. He encouraged residents to adopt a strong maintenance culture to ensure the facility serves the community for years to come.
