
GHANA’s newly appointed Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Emmanuel Victor Smith, has urged staff at the Ghanaian Embassy in Washington, D.C., to work diligently and maintain high standards of professionalism to safeguard the country’s image abroad.
Speaking during a welcome reception at his official residence on Sunday, September 5, Ambassador Smith emphasized the need for discipline, integrity, and teamwork in representing Ghana’s interests on the international stage.
He was warmly received by the Deputy Head of Mission, Amb. Mrs. Jane Gasu Aheto, along with members of the diplomatic corps and embassy staff.

In her welcome remarks, Ambassador Aheto expressed gratitude for his timely arrival and looked forward to a productive partnership anchored in mutual respect and cooperation.
Ambassador Smith applauded the embassy leadership for effectively managing recent internal restructuring, and encouraged the team to stay focused, professional, and united in purpose.
“My goal is to make Ghana look good,” he said. “There is hope, so do not give up.”

His message underscored the importance of a positive work ethic in strengthening Ghana’s bilateral relations with the United States and enhancing the nation’s reputation globally.
The reception marked the official beginning of his diplomatic duties, and staff pledged their full support to ensure a successful tenure.
