AS GHANA prepares to face Mali in a crucial World Cup qualifying match, the Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), John Ansah, has praised the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, for showing leadership and good faith in addressing tensions with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over the recent budget controversy.
Speaking to The Loop, Mr. Ansah expressed his “profound gratitude” to the Minister for taking timely steps to de-escalate the situation, following his earlier press conference which stirred public debate about the GFA’s proposed budget for the Ghana–Chad game.
“That page has been closed,” Mr. Ansah said, referring to the fallout. “Good faith is essential in building trust and fairness, especially when tensions arise between key institutions like the Sports Ministry and the GFA.”
He called on both parties to seize this moment of calm to engage in constructive dialogue. “There must be a symbolic ‘dining table’ to iron out differences and set a common agenda, especially with Ghana’s World Cup campaign underway,” he suggested.
Mr. Ansah, also an experienced administrator with Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs, urged stakeholders to focus on motivating the Black Stars and building a unified front to ensure Ghana’s successful qualification.
He emphasized that “bottom-line thinking”, defined by core values such as teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvement; should guide Ghana football’s future. “Responsible football management must balance financial success with social impact,” he added.

He concluded by rallying national support for the Black Stars in Monday’s match against Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium, calling it “an opportunity to compensate Ghanaians for the disappointing 1-1 draw against Chad.”
