PRESIDENT John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghana’s newly appointed envoys to confidently project the nation’s image as they begin their diplomatic duties.

Speaking at their orientation programme in Accra on Monday, September 1, 2025, the President reminded the ambassadors and high commissioners that their roles go beyond traditional diplomacy. He emphasized that they are key players in advancing Ghana’s economic and development goals.

“Ambassadorial appointments are no longer reserved for retirees,” President Mahama said. “You are expected to build strong networks in your countries of posting, open doors for Ghanaian businesses, and attract trade and investment into our economy.”

He described their appointments as both an honour and a serious national responsibility, urging them to spotlight Ghana’s strengths on the global stage.

“Tell Ghana’s story with confidence, not as a country facing difficulties, but as a people driven by resilience and determination,” he added.

The orientation, held under the theme “Harnessing the Dividends of Diplomacy for Ghana’s Reset Agenda,” brought together the newly appointed envoys, who will represent Ghana in key missions around the world.

Some of the new ambassadors and high commissioners include:  Sabah Zita Benson, Theresa Adjei Mensah, Mona Quartey, Mavis Ama Frimpong, Margaret Chabrae, Kalsoum Sinare, Prof. Esi Awuah, Grace El Mamood Marabe, Baba Jamal, and Victor Smith, among others.
