Organizers of the annual Inter-Madarassah Games have introduced a special Fair Play Team Award in honour of the late Alhaji Mohammed Musah, affectionately known as Alhaji Bimbo, alongside tributes to two other legendary football figures from Ayawaso East and North.
Chief organizer of the Games, Scofield Ali Sabit, explained that the competition, aimed at promoting unity, discipline, and awareness among Islamic school students, has grown significantly since its inception. What began with just 16 schools now boasts participation from 32 Madarassahs across Greater Accra and beyond, competed at the Kotobabi Wembley Park.

“As the tournament continues to grow, it is important to remember and honour those who paved the way in our football community,” Sabit said. “This year, we are proud to introduce special awards to celebrate the legacies of Mohammed Polo, Anas Seidu (aka Anas Thunder), and the late Alhaji Bimbo.”
The newly instituted Fair Play Award, dedicated to Alhaji Bimbo, aimed at encouraging sportsmanship and positive behaviour among the competing teams, values he (Alhaji Bimbo) embodied throughout his life and career.
Mohammed Polo, the dribbling Magician who is still alive and kicking, was honoured with the recognition of bestowing the best player of the competition as MOHAMMED POLO INTER-MADARASSAH-2025 BEST PLAYER AWARD.

The former Accra Hearts of Oak and Black Stars goal poacher Anas Seidu aka Thunder was also honoured with the recognition of bestowing a the top goal scorer (goalking) of the competition as ANAS SEIDU TOP SCORER AWARD.
According to the chief initiator and organizer of the soccer competition, the name of Alhaji Bimbo popped up a couple of days ago when both the traditional and new media ecosystems got awashed with eulogy comments and messages about Alhaji Bimbo who passed away 18 years ago.
According to him, it was refreshing and heartwarming the organizers of the competition unanimously agreed to honour a notable personality in Ghana sports who has done a yeoman’s job in his agenda of social reformation in Ghana, and especially within the Zongo communities, produced a number of football and boxing super stars including some movers and shakers of football administration and coaching in Ghana today.
As a result, Alhaji Bimbo has also been pencilled for a special posthumous honour of ALHAJI BIMBO FAIR-PLAY TEAM AWARD to be given to the winner of Inter-Madarassah Games-2025 fair-play team.

According to Ali Sabit, this year’s competition is so exciting and has improved massively with the response and participation of students and teachers(mallams) across the community.
He stated that one of the major objectives of the competition is to keep students in class, discourage school dropouts, and inculcate a high sense of discipline, self-esteem, self-reliant, and social responsibility to help sanctify the value of Islam and being a Muslim.
The games started yesterday, 30th of August, with 32 teams and went through smooth preliminary matches and expected to move into whittling down the numbers this morning and hopefully to the grand finale latest by 5 pm this evening.

In a respectful manner,Ali Sabit is calling on individuals and organizations to generously come to their support to help solidify this irresistible concept to help open a new page in our Islamic School curriculum for the benefit of Islam,Muslims and the nation Ghana at large.
According to him, they have projected to move the 2026 edition of the competition to the University of Ghana Sports Stadium to accommodate more Madarassahs and offer enough space for students, parents, and spectators to have fun.
The competition ended on Sunday, August 31st, at 6pm:
May Allah richly bless you in advance.
