THE ADUTOR Health Centre in the South Tongu Municipality is undergoing a major upgrade aimed at transforming it into a fully functional polyclinic.
The project includes the addition of an Emergency Ward, Outpatient Department (OPD), Pharmacy, and Laboratory.
The initiative, championed by the Assembly Member for the area, Hon. Promise Kwaku Agbanyo, is expected to benefit over 6,000 residents from more than 25 surrounding communities.
In an interview our reporter, Hon. Agbanyo expressed optimism about the project’s progress. “The building is currently at lintel level, and we’re preparing for the roofing stage. I appeal to the public, our diaspora, and stakeholders for more support to help us complete this essential project,” he said.
He revealed that a fundraising campaign launched during the health centre’s 45th anniversary in September 2024 raised GHS130,000 of the GHS500,000 target. Proposals have since been submitted to the Member of Parliament and the District Chief Executive for additional support.
Established in 1979, the Adutor Health Centre currently provides OPD, maternal and child health, antenatal care, and outreach services. However, the facility has faced major infrastructure challenges; leaky roofs, poor drainage, and an unpaved compound that becomes inaccessible during the rainy season.

Hon. Agbanyo urged all well-meaning individuals and groups to contribute towards the project. Donations can be made to the Adutor Development Account at Agave Rural Bank – Dabala Branch (Account No: 5081210000357321) or via MTN Mobile Money: 0242550157 (Promise Kwaku Agbanyo).
Despite the challenges, the community remains committed to improving health outcomes, demonstrated by recent collaborations with health professionals and free medical outreach programmes supported by Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor and other volunteers.
