CRITICS are warning President John Mahama not to entertain the current National Cathedral Board, describing it as a failed and wasteful project that has drained public purse with little to show.
Despite millions of cedis spent, only 8% of the actual construction has been done. Documents show most of the money went into designs, drawings, planning, and meetings, meanwhile the real construction has barely started.

Some of the work completed includes:
– 100% design and documentation by Adjaye Associates
– Full integration of a Bible Museum and Biblical Garden by the Nehemiah Group
– Setup of cranes, warehouses, toilets, and a concrete yard on site
– Clearing of land and foundation work
However, critics say this is not enough progress to justify the huge costs involved. They believe the current board has failed and should not be part of any future efforts to revive the project.

“President Mahama must not work with the same people who mismanaged this,” one analyst said. “The project needs new leadership, full auditing, and accountability.”
Many are now calling for a full investigation into the use of funds and want the board completely dissolved before any next steps are taken.
