
AT THE 2025 International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (IMDEC), President John Dramani Mahama, represented by Chief of Staff Hon. Julius Debrah, outlined Ghana’s bold vision to develop its maritime sector as a key driver of security, innovation, and economic growth.

Speaking on behalf of the President, Hon. Debrah described the blue economy as “our next frontier,” stressing the need for strategic investments, stronger naval capacity, and international cooperation to unlock the full potential of Ghana’s waters.
The President’s message highlighted Ghana’s determination to lead in maritime development across West Africa by boosting maritime security, encouraging innovation in ocean-based industries, and using marine resources sustainably.


With this renewed focus, Ghana is positioning itself to become a regional leader in the blue economy, leveraging its strategic coastal location to promote trade, protect territorial waters, and drive long-term national development.
