THE NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has urged Ghanaians, particularly party members and activists, to remain steadfast in their convictions as Ghana navigates a critical period of political and social transformation.

Speaking at the 19th Anniversary Commemoration of the United Cadres’ Front (UCF) at the NDC Headquarters in Accra, Mr. Asiedu Nketia emphasized the importance of standing for a just cause, even at great personal cost.

“What we must note, even as we try to reset the country, is that we are on the right path,” he said. “And when you believe in the right cause, you must stand firm and live by your convictions. If you must die for what you believe in, be prepared—because we will all die anyway. It is better to die for the right cause than for the wrong one.”

Citing the revolutionary past of the Cadres, Mr. Nketia referenced the bravery of those who pursued and neutralized figures like Alidu Giwa and Malik in their fight against corruption and criminality. He noted that these individuals were not acting out of personal vendettas but were driven by a commitment to protecting society.

The NDC Chairman also reflected on recent political violence, including the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election and the Techiman South incidents during the 2020 elections, pointing out that many Ghanaians were brutalized, injured, or killed for defending democratic values.

“These are our modern-day heroes and heroines,” he said. “They stood up for the right cause and paid a price.”

Mr. Nketia called on Ghanaians to always put the nation first, warning that while Ghana’s transformation is ongoing, every citizen has a duty to align with truth and justice.

His message deeply resonated with Cadres from across the country who had gathered for the event. Many praised the NDC Chairman—often referred to as “Chairman General”—for reinforcing the revolutionary values of patriotism, sacrifice, and nation-first leadership.
