IN A CONCERTED effort to boost academic preparedness among Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates, Hon. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Member of Parliament for La Dade-Kotopon and Deputy Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, has donated 3,359 mathematical sets to students across the constituency.

The donation, made in collaboration with La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Alfredos Nii Anyetei and Municipal Director of Education, Madam Habiba Kotomah, aims to equip candidates with essential tools for their examinations. Assembly Members also supported the initiative.

Beyond the provision of mathematical sets, Hon. Odoley Sowah announced a motivational incentive: four dummy cheques of GH¢5,000 each will be awarded to male and female students in the municipality who achieve outstanding results in the BECE.

This replaces her previous scholarship scheme, adapting to the implementation of the Free Senior High School policy.

Addressing the candidates, Hon. Odoley Sowah, aka Nye-Awo kpa kpa encouraged them to consider technical schools as viable options, emphasizing their parity with traditional secondary schools.

She also highlighted President John Dramani Mahama’s initiative to include private secondary schools in the Free SHS programme, aiming to alleviate the double-track system.

Municipal Chief Executive Alfredos Nii Anyetei urged students to dedicate themselves to their studies to achieve excellence and make their parents proud.

Prior to the donation, teachers led students in prayers and worship, seeking divine favour and expressing gratitude for reaching this milestone
