THE GHANA Free Zones Authority (GFZA) is intensifying efforts to attract international manufacturing investors, with American footwear giant Rocky Brands as its latest target.
During a meeting in Nashville, Ohio, GFZA CEO Dr. Mary Awusi extended an invitation to Rocky Brands CEO Jason Brooks to establish operations in Ghana under the Free Zones Scheme.

Dr. Awusi highlighted Ghana’s strategic location, business-friendly policies, and access to a unified continental market of 1.4 billion people through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). She emphasized the country’s skilled workforce, entrepreneurial youth, and commitment to reform and innovation.
Ghana aims to position itself as a manufacturing hub for West Africa and beyond. The Free Zones Scheme offers attractive incentives, including duty exemptions, tax holidays, and 100% foreign ownership.

Dr. Awusi pledged personal support to facilitate potential investments, aligning with the government’s vision of a “24-hour economy” to boost manufacturing, increase exports, and create jobs.
