
VICE-PRESIDENT Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has returned to Ghana following a three-week medical leave in the United Kingdom, where she underwent further treatment and recuperation.
Her return marks the end of a period of public concern and speculation regarding her health.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang fell ill on March 28, 2025, and was initially treated at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). Following medical advice, she commenced a three-week medical leave on April 7, 2025, to seek further treatment abroad.
Throughout her absence, government officials, including Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, provided updates to reassure the public of her recovery and well-being. President John Dramani Mahama also addressed concerns during his “Thank You” tour, expressing confidence in her return to duties.

Upon her return, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang is expected to resume her official duties, contributing to the government’s ongoing initiatives.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang made history on January 7, 2025, when she was sworn in as Ghana’s first female Vice President, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s political history.
