FINANCE MINISTER Dr. Cassiel Ato Baahqq Forson has issued a clarion call to industry players and the wider Ghanaian public to rally behind the government’s new gold policy direction, urging collective effort in supporting the transformative vision of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
Delivering a passionate address at the inauguration of the GoldBod Governing Board, Dr. Forson emphasized that the success of this flagship initiative hinges not only on policy but also on patriotism, accountability and partnership across sectors.

“I urge the newly-constituted Board to work hard to support and sustain this trajectory,” he stated. “Together, let us help to propel His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama’s ongoing reset of Ghana’s economy and our effort to deliver economic prosperity for all Ghanaians.”
The Finance Minister described GoldBod as more than a regulatory body – it is a symbol of a new era of economic self-determination. He encouraged all players in the gold value chain, especially small-scale miners and traders, to embrace formalization and compliance as a path to shared national benefit.
He also assured the public of the robustness and sustainability of the new framework. “I wish to assure the Ghanaian public and our stakeholders that the outlook for the Ghana cedi remains strong, supported by the transformative activities of the GoldBod,” he said.
As Ghana moves toward a more structured and value-driven approach to gold trade, Dr. Forson’s message was clear: every Ghanaian has a role to play in building a resilient, prosperous and inclusive economy.
“May God bless our homeland Ghana,” he concluded, underscoring a patriotic appeal that resonated throughout his address.
