THE ATTORNEY-GENERAL and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, has announced that the state is willing to offer a plea deal to embattled former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director-General, Kwabena Adu-Boahene and his wife, Ange-La Adjei-Boateng, who are facing charges in connection with the diversion of $7 million meant for a national cybersecurity project.

According to Dr. Ayine, the couple could see a significant reduction in their expected 25-year jail sentence if they agree to return all assets and funds stolen in the high-profile cyber fraud case. This includes properties, cash and profits accrued from the diverted funds.
The alleged fraud centers around a $7 million contract awarded to Israeli cybersecurity firm RLC Holdings Limited, which was intended to bolster Ghana’s national cyber defence infrastructure. However, the funds were reportedly siphoned into private accounts controlled by Adu-Boahene and his wife.
Speaking at a press briefing earlier this week, the Attorney-General described the case as a major breach of public trust, but noted that the government is prepared to negotiate if the suspects are willing to cooperate fully.

“If Mr. Adu-Boahene and his wife decide to enter into a plea bargain by returning the stolen monies and properties, the A-G’s office is prepared to consider a reduced sentence,” Dr. Ayine stated. “We are also considering the return of profits made from the stolen funds as part of the deal.”
The move, he said, aligns with the government’s interest in recovering stolen state resources while ensuring justice is served.
The NDC-led administration has emphasized its commitment to holding public officials accountable, while also exploring avenues like plea bargaining to ensure efficient resolution of complex corruption cases.
As the legal process unfolds, all eyes are on whether Adu-Boahene and his wife will accept the Attorney-General’s offer or face the full brunt of the law.
Suspect Adu-Boahene has about 72 estate houses in between Oyarifa and Ayi-Mensah in the Greater Accra Region.
The Attorney-General asserted that the then ruling NPP led by Nana Akufo-Addo/Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has turned Ghana into a crime scene, and the NDC administration is working hard to uncover what crimes were committed.
