REPORTS CIRCULATING that Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey was sacked as Minister-designate for Gender and Social Protection due to her lateness to the recent swearing-in ceremony have been debunked.
According to the President’s spokesperson, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, these claims are entirely false.
Explaining the situation, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu stated that the swearing-in ceremony was expedited due to the President’s upcoming travel plans.
Six of the approved nominees were contacted to confirm their availability to be sworn in at the Flagstaff House. While the five confirmed, Hon. Naa Momo Lartey informed officials of a family emergency that had taken her outside Accra. She assured them she would try to return in time but might face delays.
Officials encouraged her to make every effort to attend but it was also agreed that if she couldn’t make it on time, she would be sworn in at a later date. Contrary to circulating rumors, her absence on the day did not result in her dismissal.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu emphasized that there was no communication or directive suggesting that Hon. Naa Momo Lartey was sacked for failing to attend the ceremony.
He clarified that her name was included in relevant communications, and there was no question about her standing as Minister-designate.
The Presidency has reiterated that Hon. Naa Momo Lartey remains in good standing and will be sworn in at an appropriate time.
