IN A DRAMATIC turn of events, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has reportedly obtained a court injunction to stop the re-collation of parliamentary results for the Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency.

This legal move comes in the wake of escalating tensions and serious allegations surrounding discrepancies in the recent election results.

During a media briefing at the party’s Headquarters in Accra, today, the NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia explained that, the injunction was filed against the Electoral Commission (EC), which is currently engaged in a contentious re-collation process aimed at addressing disputes that have arisen between the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) which had unfortunately turned to be favouring the NPP.

On December 12, he said, the EC had initiated a re-collation of results from four constituencies in the Eastern Region — Suhum, Nsawam, Fanteakwa North, and Akwatia — due to disagreements over the original collated results.

Kicking off at the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra, Mr Nketia said, the re-collation was intended to bring clarity to the electoral disputes.

The police are also caught offering support to the EC to carry on with the illegal re-collation in favour of the outgoing these NPP PCs.

However, the process soon became muddied with confusion as disagreements between the NDC and NPP extended into a second day of operations.

Adding to the chaos, he said, the NDC expressed concerns over the discrepancies found in the Electoral Commission’s original pink sheets, raising further doubts and issues on day 2 of the re-collation exercise.

CHAIRMAN ASIEDU NKETIA,  (GENERAL MOSQUITO) ADDREDSING THE MEDIA IN ACCRA.

The Chairman, “General Mosquito” as affectionately called, emphasised  the developments underlining the party’s commitment to ensuring electoral integrity amid an increasingly complex political landscape across the length and breadth of the country.
